‛Book Contracts 2012‛ IX Kyiv International book exhibition
On May 16 at 11.00 a. m. the IX Kyiv International book exhibition organized by Ukrainian State TV and Radio Committee (Derzhteleradio) was opened at Ukrainian House Business and Cultural Cooperation Center.
Derzhteleradio Chairman Alexander Kurdinovich, his First Deputy Anatoly Murakhovsky, representatives of Turkmenistan, Russia and Indonesia were present at the gala opening of the exhibition.
During the four days the exhibition was held book-lovers were able to learn about the best examples of the book industry, works of the popular local and foreign writers, attend numerous autograph sessions, presentations and master-classes.
Lessia Ukrainka state awards had been given to the best writers working for young generation in various fields, such as literature for youth, play-scripts for youth and other. Each laureate was awarded with diploma as well as the monetary prize in the amount of UAH 10 000.
The highlights of the exhibition were the presentation of the “Grandpa Guram's Tales” printed in Brail typeface for blind children, academician Ivan Dzuba's “On Three Continents” book winning the author the title of Munich Free University Doctor, “Boykivshchina Tales” Ukrainian folk tales selection, the famous Shevchenko's “Kobzar” translated into Romanian language as well as the first edition of the “The Prophet” novel by the youngest Shevchenko Award Laureat, late Oles Ulianenko.
